A Better Approach to Bebop

The Barry Harris Method stands apart from standard bebop pedagogy. While many approaches touch on bebop scales, enclosures, chromaticism, and the like, these concepts alone fall short of capturing that iconic bebop sound.

Barry Harris’ World of Soloing drives straight to the heart. Its lessons unify the unwritten rules of melody, harmony, and rhythm – passed down from legends like Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, and Grant Green – into a comprehensive, step-by-step solution for creating beautiful lines that actually sound like Bebop.

From the 8 ways you must know F7 (Barry never called it Mixolydian!) to the art of implying complex harmony by simply Playing With Family, guitarist Chris Parks expertly guides you through each lesson. Along the way, he shares Barry’s wisdom and fun anecdotes accumulated over three decades of study and friendship with the late, great bebop master.
